To: All Ashland Parents

     The 2007-2008 Ashland PTO Executive Board is nearing the end of their term. We are still in need of someone to fill the President, Vice President, Treasurer, Recording Secretary and Parliamentarian positions. Volunteering for the PTO is a rewarding opportunity to be close to your children and directly benefit their school. Get involved!

     The Ashland PTO plays an important role in the lives of all the students, teachers and administrators here at Ashland Elementary. Over the past five years, Ashland’s PTO has provided over $190,000 toward school programs, family events, and much needed school materials for teachers and educators. Did you know last year the PTO sponsored the Athletic Club, Tae Kwon Do Club, Art Club, Foreign Language Club and Jewelry Club? Over 500 students participated in these clubs alone. Clubs can expose students to various athletic and educational experiences they may otherwise not have. What we do matters!

     Here are just some of the events and intiatives the PTO has taken on this year:
  • Assemblies (Musical Improv – NOW THIS, Highly Contagious – the science of sound and music, Repitle World, Arithmatickles)
  • Free Money for our school – Box Tops, Campbells Soup Labels, Target, etc.
  • Popcorn on Fridays
  • Recylcing Program at Ashland
  • $100 Reimbursement Program for all Classroom Teachers
  • Designed and created the Ashland Yearbook
  • Spiritwear
  • 5th Grade Graduation
  • Playground Equipment
  • Books for the Library
  • Brain Pop
  • Events
  • Ice Cream Social
  • Spirit Skate 2008
  • Movie Night
  • Texas Hold’em Night
  • Dinner Theater/Pasta Dinner
  • International Festival
  • Holiday Store
  • Scrapbook Night
  • Gift Cards
  • Field Day
  • Potomac Nationals Baseball– Ashland Night
  • Ashland/Bruin Fun Run
     Without a PTO, these types of events will not take place next year. Please consider making a difference at Ashland Elementary and volunteering for one of these important positions. Contact one of the following people on the Nominating Committee:
